The roots of the Connected Platform were born from a specific Directory of Service and Social Prescribing requirement from Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. They commissioned Ayup Digital to build a solution and as recommended by the GDS Standard, the resulting code was released open-source.
Other Local Authorities and voluntary sector organisations have since adopted the platform and contributed various features, enhancements and bug fixes to the platform. The Connected Places repositories now contains a single codebase of all the historical versions of the platform with a consolidated feature-set.
